The debut book

Optimism isn’t as great as Hindsight.

What is it about?

This small collection of poetry is about heartbreak. It was written from a romantic separation. The book is split into two halves. Optimism and Hindsight. Taking you on a journey of holding onto hope that said person will change or come back and then to looking back upon reflection and seeing them for who they truly are.

Without sounding niche, I published it to comfort people. I remember feeling so alone and it having such a detrimental affect on my mental health. I put my pain into pages, the kind of pain that is raw and real. To provide the feeling that these pages understand you and what you’re going through. The book has mental health helplines at the back to provide extra support.

The purpose?

I started writing poetry at 16. Then at 17, I had my heart completely crushed by the first person I ever fell in love with. And then again at 20 by my second and hardest heartbreak. The book is completely a collection of the 2 times I’ve been truly in love and how it affected me when it ended. They never started out as a book. They were just pure, raw poems. By my second heartbreak, I had so many poems and felt so alone that I wanted to connect to people. Unlike most, my entire book was made through an iPad and the app ‘pages’. No word documents. No computer or laptop. An iPad. Published through extensive research and a small budget which has made it my proudest achievement to date.

The Journey.
